Make sure the engine turns over and has compression. If it does not fell like it has much compression, add a small amount of oil into each spark plug hole. Make sure the plugs are clean and correctly gapped. Make sure the spark plug wires are in good condition. Look inside your magneto or distributor (whichever you have) and check the breaker points. Clean them off with a piece of fine sandpaper and make sure the points cap is set correctly. Put unleaded gasoline in the tractor's fuel tank. Watch the carburetor for leaks. Open the carburetor bowl petcock or remove the plug and see if there is a good flow of clean gasoline. If not, the needle in the carb might be sticking or the fuel filter or line may be plugged. Make sure there is oil in the engine. Put a little gas in each cylinder. Make sure the gear shift lever is in neutral and the brakes are ON. Set the throttle in the middle position. Turn on the choke, Turn on the ignition,Push in the clutch pedal and crank the tractor with the starter (if you have a starter) and see if it starts. If it runs for a short time, it may not be getting the gas. You would need to remove the carburetor, clean it, put in a kit and adjust it. If the tractor will not start, there may be no spark.
