Not sure, but my 424 done a similar thing a few years back. It would start and run fine, but died in 5 minutes or less. I took the pump to shop, and the guy told me a regulating spring was broke or worn. He checked, and the spring was not available, so he told me that IH didn't have it anymore, but Bic did. The spring out of an ink pen works fine. Mine has been running for 12 or 15 years with the pen spring in it. This is a CAV pump. Look on CaseIH.com at the 424/BD154/fuel system. It shows the spring. I think it is number 81 or 83. not sure. You can take this apart yourself to check the spring. Mine was broken into 3 pieces. Let us know what you find.
