In the old days we used straight 30W in summer and straight 10W in winter here in Wisconsin. I use 10w30 diesel oil (detergent) now.Works fine for me-others surely will have different thoughts. The governor does not have seperate lubrication,it`s lubed by the crankcase oil. Depending which PTO you have: 2qt. 10W oil for planetary type, 1 pt. Hy Tran for clutch type.
You check the transmission fluid level by unscrewing a cap screw on the left side of trans. case below the footrest and somewhat hidden by the clutch pedal. You are correct in using Hy Tran in it. There is a filter on the right side of tractor -kind of a square plate down low by brake pedals. As far as serial # tag - it`s on the right side on cluth housing right next to the oil filter housing on the engine. It is a metal tag riveted to the housing. Hope this helps, Mark
