The book FARMALL Letter Series Tractors by Fay and Kraushaar gives pretty good info on the differences among the various IH tractors, from 1939 up through the Super series. There aren't as many pictures of details as you might like, but certainly enough info to make a determination. There is good info on serial numbers and how to read them. No personal experience with the C series, but from everything that can be seen in the picture, this is a C, with perhaps some mods, as others have said here. It appears that an alternator replaces the original generator. As best I can tell, generators were used all the way through the Super series.
