I would check coolant flow thru the rad. Take the bottom hose off the rad and pour water in the top and check the flow coming out the bottom. Had 454 that would over heat..changed water pump..thermostat..even totally removed thermostat..still overheating. Solution was to have rad steam cleaned to get all the crud out of the rad cores.
