If this project is seeming a little beyond your abilities you might try contacting your local vintage tractor club to see if someone can help you or there might be someone interested in the entire tractor. Always seems a shame to scrap any decent parts. Also you might want to try removing the starter motor and using a pry bar on the ring gear(or try the PTO again). There are a number of things that might cause the tractor to act like the engine is stuck, such as the starter drive being jammed in the ring gear or being stuck in two gears. Where abouts in the UK are you? You could still try towing it (carefully) if the tyres are toast anyway and if the tractors hard up you'll probably not do any harm. tractorsam
