Unless you plan on doing a complete overhaul, I have used Old's way and it works good. I have an H that had been sitting for 5 years with no head on it, put trany fluid in and let it sit for a couple weeks, noticed oil disappearing in one cylinder, put more in, let it sit, eventually all 4 kept loosing oil, about 6 weeks, took off pan, took off rod cap, and pushed all 4 pistons out, honed cylinders, going to put rings in it and put it to work, there was no cylinder damage this way. Remember, it took time to stick, so it is going to take time to unstick it. If you get in a hurry, you can do some damage to the engine. The thing that concerns me by using heat to loosen it, you may get some metal fatigue if you plan on using the pistons again, and it could crack a sleeve, I would think. Jim
