I have a 3 pt carry all that has (2) 55 gallon plastic barrells filled with water. the weight of the carrier and water is about 1000 pounds. This seems to be pretty effective at holding the rear wheels to the ground. The rear tires are also calcium filled and the wheels have weights installed. The only draw back is that the water will freeze in the winter so you need to add some sort of antifreeze or calcium like in the tires. The farther out the back of the rear of the tractor the weight hangs the less you will need (think of a fulcrum or teeter taughter). So a matching weight of 1500 pounds on the rear is not always necassary depending on the distance from the tractor.
