Allan is very correct. The bottom of the spigot that protrudes down into the crankcase is not important to the operation or life of the engine. If it is not into the water jacket, ignore it and chalk it up to the category of interesting hind sight. If it is in the water jacket, then it is an issue best dealt with a new block. It might be possible to weld it up then machine in a repair sleeve then bore it to fit the regular thin sleeve, but that is a long row to hoe. JimN
