First remove the sparkplugs. Then with a good lite i use my small mag lite you can see the cylinder walls. If they are rusty there is no use trying to soak and other means. Remove head and get a better look probably will have to remove pan and get sleeves and pistons out all in one. To do that remove the engine then pull the crank then you can get them out as a unit. I just got finished with three blocks.They were so rusted that they needed replacing. They can be pressed out then. I made a heavy t-shaped thingy and with someone holding used a mall and a couple whacks they came out.Then using a portable band saw split the sleeve and got the pistons out to salvage the rods as the rest was junk.
