Our 1566 will do the same thing. We have been told by our Case/IH mechanic that there is an O-ring on the suction tube for the hydraulic pump that has gone bad. The solution without a major teardown is to fill the hydraulic system about 3-4 gallons over full and you should have no problem if that is what the problem is. I understand that it is quite a job to put a $0.75 o-ring in. Ours will run fine until the hy-tran gets a little low and as soon as you start to go up a little incline, you lose steering and brakes and I believe we also lose the hydraulics. It seems to be worse if it is cold.
