Here's some things to consider that I have tried. All rear brackets to mount charr lynn unit won't line unit up true with steering shaft. If bracket is modified or one made to line it up and a solid coupling used, it can be hard on the charr lynn unit when solid on both ends because after time the ball bearing on front steering shaft will let shaft travel front to rear a little. Also lining unit up cuts underhood clearance. Problem with splined coupling though is wear and use of pins instead of keys for retaining to shafts. If a mount is made for char lynn unit that will keep it from turning but let it float forward and back just a little,along with a solid keyed coupler (use by putting keyway in shorter front shaft) its real hard to keep it back far enough to keep gauges in the same place and get the unit to clear hood. When I say clear hood, I mean so hood looks the same as before power steering. Also whatever coupler is used can't be to big or it will hit hood. Depending on how much the rear steering shaft clears top of fuel tank, fuel tank mounts can be shimed up to raise tank some and will let you cheat on the hood clearance for unit without being to noticeable. Just pointing out some pros and cons from trying to come up with something better than the overpriced splined coupler in the past.
