The 1460 is a better machine... I've run both side by side.
The 1440 has no turbo on the engine and will lose power on hills - never a good thing.
The 1440 has weaker/smaller final drives and a weaker/smaller rear axle and wheels too.
The 1440 grain tank is also smaller, because the smaller drive components can't handle the extra weight.
You can get a decent 1460 for less than $10,000 these days and they are one great machine. My brother-in-law put over 7,000 hours on one before they traded it in - only real problems were the hydro starting to get weak and jumped out of 2nd gear.
