if its behaving badly, give it a stern talking to !!! like rusty said, squeeze the post with the pin out. also check if the float is dragging along the side of the bowl, may be bent just a tad off and it hangs up, keeping the float open. check to see if the bowl gasket is sticking in too far, it can catch the top of the float and hold it open also.
