Yeah, I'm a little slow on the uptake. My interests are mainly in the smaller antique tractors, Cub through H-size.
I'd seen this gold demonstrator program that CNH is putting on right now, but didn't realize that it was because they're celebrating the Magnum's 20th birthday.
Man, I remember back when those tractors came out, "They're not like our old (insert favorite '06, '56, '66 series tractor here) that have been going strong for 20/30/40 years. They'll never hold up with all those electronic doodads and gizmos and powershift transmissions."
Here it is 20 years later, and you still see a lot of 7100-series Magnums on the lots for sale, and plenty in the field. Dad's looking at one coming up for auction in a couple weeks, and after thinking about it, he said, "You know, that tractor is about as old as the (Super) M was when I bought it back when we moved here 32 years ago."
