There is a low speed 1st setup for the M. I don't know what speed it gives you. It is a pretty major job to install it and the parts are not easy to come by. I think orchard tractors O-6 had this as standard equipment and parts may fit the M. You have to change out the counter shaft and the reverse gears as well as the second gear on the countershaft, maybe others. The first gear on the countershaft is too small to make a gear to slide onto the shaft, so the gear is machined into the shaft. That is why you must change the countershaft. The reverse idler runs off 1st gear, so you have to change that. In the standard set up, the 1st and 2nd gear on the counter shaft is made together as a double gear, so since the 1st gear is on the countershaft with the new setup, you have to put in a single gear for 2nd. Bottom line is you have to take nearly everything out of the transmission to do it if you can even find the parts.
