Changed plug gap back to .025", made sure that distributor was pointed towards no. 1, checked spark plug wires, still wouldn"t start.
Went back to basics: fuel, air, fire. Was getting good stream of gas at carb, air cleaner open and clean. Pulled plug no. 1 & turned over. NO spark.
Put the breaker point ignition parts back in, and it fired and started. But after putting the old ignition parts back, standing on my ear, I remember one of many reasons for my change to the electronic unit.
Sitting here looking at the Pertronix unit, wondering if it has to have 6 volts on it to bench test, to see what failed. Didn"t think to check the ground before I removed the unit, but like I said, it was running great, then back-fired and quite.
