When we were putting our M back together my dad took notice of how loose the oil pick-up fit the pump . He was woundering if oil presure was bleeding off due to the loose fit .
It is held in with a roll pin ! He drilled it out for the next size bigger , for a better hold .
At that point he went to the hardware store to find the correct size rubber washer to go in between the pick-up and the pump. I think he found a faucit washer that was perfect ,letting it swing free and yet sealing .
We have great oil presure, grant you the motor was fresh and the pump was rebuilt to specs.
I ran this fix past a gentelmen on Red Power with a dozer they had a oil presure problem with . They had gone as far as replacing the pump , presure relief valve the hole nine yards [ fresh motor] . He replied back about a week later laughing that a $0.30 washer fixed the problem .
