My whole 3 car garage is now an F-20 restoration project. My wife even has to park her new car outside in the winter. What started out as a hobby has taken over a good part of my life. Every part has been taken off my F-20. Every part has been carefully cleaned, any imperfections in the metal filled in, sometimes multiple times to get it just right, and then primered. The dining room table is covered with parts that have been carefully placed there until they can be painted. Every nut and bolt has been cleaned or replaced. Money seems to be no object. Although it should be. Every original manual has been found and purchased sometimes at considerable cost. My Ebay shortcuts are all Farmall related. F-20 has been spelled every way possible just in case someone lists a part I may or may not need and spelled it oddly. I check the tractor forum multiple times a day to make sure I don't miss any pertinent tip or information. I have plans months ahead to attend tractor shows. (never been to one) A watchful eye is always present so that if a piece of optional equipment that was made comes up for sale I must have it. My children have been sent on missions out of state to pick up parts I have purchased sight unseen. I dream of Farmalls. I live in a residential neighborhood and have 2 farm tractors. My neighbors eye me suspiciously because there must be something wrong. I look forward to weekends, not because I don't have to work, but because I CAN work on my F-20. I subscribe to Red Power magazine. I contemplate buying another F-20. Not because I need it but because I may need it. There is bondo dust in the living room next to my recliner where I gently sand small parts to perfection. I have a ring around my nose where the dust mask is tightly sealed for hours at a time. I have an electrolysis tank. I have purchased special tools that have no other purpose but to restore a tractor. I use the terms drawbar horsepower and belt pulley horsepower. I have a red riding lawnmower even though I have very little grass. I know the chemical properties of rust converters. I learned to braze. I used more oxy-acetylene in the last 3 months than in the last 10 years. I ran out of welding rod. I bought an engine hoist. I installed more lights so that I can see better. I have 2 toy F-20's in boxs next to my recliner. I now know what an ERTL is. I bought 6 different Farmall books on Ebay because they had color pictures. When I drive down the road and see rusty metal I do a U-turn to verify if it is something I may need. Gotta go now, UPS is here.
