I suspect that your 340 U has the same carb as mine does. It is a Marvel Schebler carb, and uses the same gasket and rebuild kit as the 8N Ford and the Allis WD. The full carbs are not interchangable due to differences in the throttle shaft linkage and a few minor external differences.
There is an excellent multipage set of rebuild instructions available on the YT 9N,2N,8N site that has really good pictures. I made a copy some time ago and stuffed it into my I&T repair manual.
The kit is available from NAPA or O'Reilly's. CIH just wants to sell the individual gaskets, needle and seat, etc and it adds up quickly beyond the cost of a kit.
