Our mowers back in the 50s used with the Super A used a cable from the mower to the touch control rockshaft for lifting. However the mowers we had were bolted rigidly to the drawbar and had swivel wheels on the back. Thus a pivot was not a problem. The cable we used just ran from the mower accross the platform between your feet to the rockshaft arm. Not OSHA and safety approved by todays standards, but it worked and we knew not to get our feet in the way of the cable.
