Here's an idea I had that I am tempted to try; and I wondered if anybody out there has made a similar atempt, with advice or maybe a warning. I bought a pull type sicle mower, a New Holland 450, with a hydraulic cylinder lift. I would like to pull it with my Farmall Super A. My idea is that, instead of installing a remote hydraulic on the tractor, I might operate the lift with a cable, attached to the rockshaft arms. The trick is in maintaining an equal distance from the lift arm on the mower to the point of attachment on the tractor when I turn. So, my idea is to run the cable from the lift arm on the mower through some sort of spool or pulley that would be located directly above the hitch pin that hitches the mower itself to the tractor. Then I would run the cable along the drawbar to a pulley and from there up to the rockshaft arm. Whadaya think? Anybody ever try this? Cool?
