You can purchase thread inserts (different than helicoils) from such places as McMaster Carr (mcmaster.com). They have the proper ID thread and a larger OD thread. You drill & tap the hole to the proper thread, apply some extra loctite to them and screw them into the hole and let them set up. For a 3/4-10 bolt you'd require a 90248A051 which uses a 1-8 external thread and has a length of 25/32. Package of 5 is about $13 + shipping.
On a shallow hole you are going to want to finish up with a bottoming tap so that you have full thread to the bottom of the hole unlike a plug tap that allows the last few threads to taper out, which makes starting the tap easier.
material around the current holes is going to be the big question, on whether or not there is enough to drill and tap for oversized holes.
I have an original 460 / 560 FH installation user's manual and if I recall correctly there is quiet a bit of torque on those bolts, more than the average 1/2" drive torque wrench is going to be capable of.
