I stripped out a thread when I put the plate back on the 2606 draft control housing last week. It was the same one that had the stripped bolt head and I had a dickens of a time getting it out. Finally got it one day with a hammer and chisel just as I was about to weld on it. It is in the back a couple inches from the side.
Anyway, I use one of those "Armstrong" torque wrenches and always want to make sure I get something tight. All the bolts tightened up fine except when I put the last little oomph on that one it broke free. It seems like it will screw down but just as the lock washer gets snug, it turns free. I haven't taken the plate back off and had decided to just let it go since there are plenty of other bolts holding it. The threads on the bolt are not stripped.
What do you guys suggest I do? I don't know how deep the bolt hole is. Maybe a longer bolt or removing the lock washer will find new thread. It doesn't seem like a thread chaser would fix it now but I don't know.
