Yeah , it's worn out . There's only about a 1/16th inch of material left under the splines for 5th gear engagement . I think there's supposed to be a snap ring holding the outer race in ? It's gone and so is the groove for it . I might be able to just put in a new outer race and hope 5th doesn't twist the splines off . If I don't find a better shaft I'm going to talk to a machine shop or welding shop to see if it can be built up and re-bored and heat treated . My problem is I don't really know what a M&W shaft is supposed to look like so I'm comparing it to a stock shaft I have . The difference is in total length of the shaft . The M&W is longer overall so either the main shaft is shorter than normal or the recess in the pilot area is normal and that thin area is correct . It would help me to know that . ...Randy
