Don't remember any rubber bumpers,not saying they weren't there. Our's had wing nuts to hold down the lid. I guess I didn't pay much attention to the holes in the box, but I would guess the large hole was for the positive and the small was for the negative. I can check with my brother in law but some how I think dad threw the top away years ago'which may answer your rubber question.
