Mike, don't want to step on anyones toes but,there has been some very important info that has been over looked when soldering the terminals on multi-strand copper wire. 1. Be sure to keep the open flame away from the rosen core solder, as the rosen is flamable and you'll defeat the purpose of the rosen if it catches afire.
2. You need to get a small can of rosen when you get the solder, to dip your exposed cable into. As you need the solder to wick onto and into the inner most part of the cable. The rosen helps clean and stops any further oxidation of multi-strand copper wire.
