I have hand cranked for years, never a problem. But, you will find the M a little hard to hand crank. My recommendation is to keep the connections clean and the battery charged. I have cranked my SA and C with distributers many times without problems. That way they start with a battery discharged so low that it will not turn the engine over. I am 70 years old -- Grew up with a mag equipped H. I have my opinion, the naysayers have theirs!
