You may want to buy or rent a bearing seperator. It is a tool used to pull bearings off shafts spindles and the like. It is 2 halfs tht bolt together and is used with a 2 bolt or 2 jaw puller. I think it will give the pully plenty of support as you pull on it. As a precaution you may want to put a bolt into the front of the crankshaft to push against to protect the threads in the crankshaft. When I put my pully back on I used a piece of all thread rod and a nut & washer. I threaded the all thread rod in to the crankshaft as far as it would go and used the nut and washer to "Push" the pulley back on.
