if painting it for work, paint it any color, even purple... ;) if for all (judged) show, either all IH red scheme or as it was as a C R.
if it's for mostly work and some fun showing (maybe the correct word is sharing), i'd do a paint scheme that hints at its past and honors the IH colors at the same time. simple would be red engine, CR color sheet metal. complicated would be CR colors, with a peel away effect showing the IH in critical spots such as near the model badge (think of the incredible hulk's torn clothes).
