I'm replacing my oil gauge right now on my '44 H. As I took the assemble apart, it seemed really loose at the base where the fitting goes into the elbow into the engine. Also, the line that goes into the fitting that attaches to the gauge just slid right out. Oil didn't seem to leak from it, although I didn't give it a good look at the base. But I did see it at the gauge. And oil came out of the line when we popped it off with the engine running, so I know it's flowing.
Is the line just supposed to be loose in the fittings like that, or is there a way to tighten them? My service manual and operators manual don't cover that, so sorry for yet another question, but I want to make sure this is right as I put it back together.
