On the F4 and i believe the E4 mags, you remove the distributor cover. Rotate the mag until the pick up contact is at the 'center' of the finger for plug one. Set engine to TDC. Then insert bolts in matching holes on the coupling.
Position of the spark advance isn't important during timing - operator sets this by ear. The above timing setting is close enough.
