We have some pretty nasty clay here in NW Ohio and my 826 will sometimes pull a mounted 9 shank chisel, but I would hit those "spots" where it would practically stop and spin tires (even with diff lock). That or I had to adjust the draft control and ended up with inconsistent depths. I reconfigured it for 8 shanks and now it will pull almost everywhere to about 8 inches with the draft control maxed. Never tried a pull-behind chisel but I guess you'd need to be weighted down pretty good to pull a 9-shank. They say a disc chisel pulls a little easier but my neighbor's 8020 works pretty hard pulling a 9-shank disc chisel, with lots of weight and duals no less.
