I am working on a H, trying to correct a noisy ringgear and pinion.The low four gears are quiet and is quiet when running the PTO under load but 5th is noisey. I have twice now replaced the ringgear,pinion with ones that showed very little wear, I have reshimed the pinion in several positions and set the ring gear each time, I have even split the brake cage shims so I can read just without pulling the bull gears.I have tryed backlash from 6 to 25 thousands but still have the noise, The noise reminds me of an old speed jack while running an elevator. Can someone tell me what I am not seeing.
