1.if you can put it on a trailer and take it to the car wash. 2.oven cleaner and wirebrush the tough spots 3.use a grinder with a wirebrush.3 1/2 inch and a 6 inch are nice to remove paint and rust (this is the really fun part) 4. wash METAL only with phosphoric acid to neutralize rust. 5. rinse/wash and brush until all white residue from acid is gone 6. primer as soon as dry (hours not days!) 7. paint the thing. i bought the best paint i could find and money is no object because by the time you have finished preping the machine you will spend anything to have the paint last forever so you do not have to do it again. 8. have fun (amazing what the beer cost is on these projects) and when you are done you will be happy you did it right.
