I got the fitting out OK; no problem with the tube - it's missing. (The one with the hole is the one from inside the head cover.) After removing the fitting I was able to pull the head off fairly easily. All four piston heads are covered with a black deposit. The valves have a light coating of black but otherwise look pretty good. Next is dropping the oil pan, which will be full of oil since the plug is frozen tight and will need to be drilled out. Sounds like fun. From the sound I get when I spin the engine with the rear wheel, there's something going on with the #1 cylinder, maybe a broken piston ring.
