My IH 574 gas tractor has problems running. It will just die at random times. I suspect problems with the fuel system, but have completely cleaned out the lines from the gas tank to the fuel pump.
However, the fuel pump still has the original parts, and the rubber is worn, especially on the upper diaphragm. Is that enough to cause the problems with fuel flow to the engine? I can usually restart within a few minutes of turning the engine over, but its very annoying to not have constant operation.
Can someone tell me if there is a rebuild kit for this tractor's fuel pump?
If not, could I replace it with an electric fuel pump, and if so, which model would they recommend.
Or is there a specific model number for this fuel pump that I can purchase? My owners manuals don't list the part number.
I'm new to tractor ownership, and while somewhat mechanically inclined, am not a wizard.
Any help from this knowledgeable group is appreciated.
