Uniform wear results in uniform compression. Stuck rings, or worn cylinders and rings can be at fault and still have compression. Pulling the head will allow clear assessment of the ring wear in the cylinder. There is probably a ridge where the top ring stops its upward travel. If this ridge is able to be felt easily with a fingernail, it is time for new sleeves and pistons. Kits are available on this site, and appear as good as any. The sleeves are wet sleeves, which means they can be removed easily without special tools or pullers. Check the archives for information on installeing wet sleeves. JimN
