I am going to replace my F504D hydraulic pump. Yep gonna do it, starting to whine a bit and makes just over 1100 psi WOT. It currently has the 12 GPM. I have a loader and a 17 GPM seems like a logical choice since they are a direct replacement for and CHEAPER than a 12 GPM.
What about the filter issue. My understanding is the standard filter (2) + screen is good for about 14 GPM when fresh. The 17 GPM supposedly needs different (longer) filters?
Does this require a different filter housing (sheet metal box that holds the 2 filters)?
Will I have to obtain the 17 GPM cover to deal with the extra long filters or have a machine shop whittle out a spacer to accomadate the length?
Will I have to adjust my power steering flow divider or replace with one for the bigger pump?
Any other complications adding 5 GPM to the system?
