Does the tractor have an alternator? If so what is the tractor serial number? From your engine serial number I'd say it's very close to the change by IH from 6 volt positive ground to 12 negative ground. I can give you that exactly if you give me the tractor serial number. Just want to establish if an original engine. If it is 12 volt, even factory 12 volt it would have been generator from factory if the engine is original.
If you have an alternator conversion, and it's not wired just right the problem your having can exist.
