So we finally got a garage built so my Super M doesn't stay out in the weather all the time anymore and then this weird charging issue develops. The battery is poor so we bump start it and it'll charge at oh maybe 7 amps. Then dip to maybe -1 amp. If I tap the regulator it'll jump to 7 amps... If I leave the tractor sitting still while its running sometimes it'll hang at 7 amps, sometimes it'll be -1. If I tap the regulator it always jumps up but sometimes it'll drag back down, sometimes it'll stay up.
The battery is about 10 years old and on its last legs... The wiring on the tractor is a disaster. Lots of insulation falling off. The regulator is about the same age as the battery.
I *think* the problem is mostly the old battery as on the battery charger it draws the max (6a I think) for as long as you leave it on charge.
But... I think a new wiring harness would be in order (none of the lights work either).
Any suggestions for a replacement wiring harness souce?
