It could very well be the TA release bearing. To check this out, remove the tin cover from on top of the center section. This will be directly above where the TA operating cross-shaft enters the housing. If the tractor is equipped with a belt pulley, it may have to be removed. With the tractor shut off, you can observe the bearing & release fingers on the press. plate. Also check the press. plate/flywheel assembly for looseness on the TA input shaft. These components can be accessed via a single split, while complete TA overhaul requires a double split of the tractor.
