560 Torque

I am looking at a Farmall 560 that is being privately sold. The owner says the torque does not slip, but makes a growling noise when the torque lever is pulled back. I was wondering if this is an indication that torque failure is imminent or if there is something else going on. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
