Perhaps someone jury rigged the thing using some bushings when the shoulder bolt was shot. I think the new shock usually comes with the rubber bushings. I suggest you get a new seat spring while you are into it. I've had folks complain that their seat was bottoming out saying they needed a new shock to fix it. If the seat is bottoming out, the real problem is likely the spring although the shock may be bad too.
Thanks to all of you for trying to help me. I found the part numbers by looking under "Super C"/chassis/seat in the Case IH parts website. The two spacers are item #18 in the illustration, part number 354731R1, and the steel sleeve that goes through everything is item #20 in the illustration, part number 354730R1. Why they don't show that in the SH and SM section is beyond me - as both my tractors have that set-up. I guess they are only available from Case/IH. Thanks again. mike
