I need some help please. My stepdad is in the hospital recovering from a heart attack he had last Saturday evening. We both belong to a tractor club that has a show comming up. He has a Farmall Super MTA, that someone stole the coil off of. The tractor is working on a 12 volt, negitive ground system. I bought replacement coil at napa, but when I got home I found out it is 3ohms. Since the coil is an electrical item napa will not exchange it. Can I use the 3 ohm coil and do away with the resistor he has in the system? I think that the hot wire from the switch runs to the + side of the coil, and the - side of the coil supplys juice to the points, BUT I am not 100% sure. Without dads knowing I would like to get the tractor running and take it and him to the upcomming show. My mom thinks it would make him very pleased if I do this for him.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this problem.
