Manifold Interchangability Question

Please, give me any and all thoughts on interchangability of the intake/exhaust manifold on the 4 cylinder engines. Example- How far down the numbers and back in the letters will a 450 gas unit fit and work on?

Also, request any info about groupings where there is interchangability?

Origin of my quesetion is that I'm scheming a throttle body EFI kit, as an alternative to rotted out manifolds and corroded carburetors. Also, as something the guy down the street don't have... Grins here.
