I have a super C. I recently got the tractor. It was always hard to get in gear. Then when i did get it in gear it had quite a bit of whining. I started to take down the tractor to restore and investigate. There is a lot of play around many of the bearings. The PTO shaft wiggles quite a bit when you move it by hand, etc.. The sliding gears seem to have their faces on one side rounded over, or are they suppposed to be hardfaced and angled liked that. I havent seen any replacement gears to compare. When i drained the oil, it had lots of sludge with lots of metal shavings. I held a magnet over it, they were everywhere. Anyone have any ideas where to begin?
