In answer to your question, no. Play could be from various things in addition to what you mentioned. The culprits could also be worn teeth on the PTO gear and and the constant running shaft, as well as wear on the mating surfaces of the constant running shaft and the clutch pressure plate. So odds are to go through the whole drive system of the PTO/Hydraulic pump and in order to do that you have to split the tractor between the engine and the torque tube, and split it again between the torque tube and the transmission.
