I have some M&W literature. They provide exploded views and parts lists on all their products except the live pump. The following is a quote from them: "Liberal Pump Exhange Plan. When it become necessary to service your pump, M & W provides a very reasonable exchange plan whereby you can replace your old pump with another - at only a fractiion of the cost of a new pump. The exchange unit carries the same warranty as the pump originally furnished with your Hydraulic System" Apparantly, the pump was not intended to be field serviced. It seems like someone has been inside your pump before you. The needles should be packed tight. Some hydraulic pumps and motors are made to such a high tolerance that gaskets are not used. Some times you will see o-rings or a thin mylar gasket that is as thin as cellophane. If you have an o-ring grove, it couldn't hurt to fill it with the right diameter and cross-section o-ring.
