The "new" looking disk has NOTHING to do with low-end slippage, only high-end slippage. The sprag (one-way clutch) it the mechanical link when in TA, the clutch "disk" is disengaged.
I have done the double split to change the main clutch, TA clutch, and make repairs to the TA sprag. I did not go through the TA completely the first time and will have to re-visit in the future. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!
I had issues recently with the gear shift lever hanging up uphill and flat ground when stopped, clutch down. I had two problems, the TA linkage was misadjusted and the main clutch linkage was not allowing full disengagement.
